How do you manage your time better? I am a major procrastinator and it's often because I'm busy thinking about how what I have done isn't good enough, how my adviser probably thinks I'm stupid, or how my adviser will know I've been procrastinating and will think I'm lazy. Other times I just get sidetracked by the million other things that are more interesting to do and then hours of my day are gone.

I stated quite clearly my research interests in my application for the program at my university. Over two years I went through approximately 9 supervisors each of which, for their own reason, simply were not interested in my research. Apparently nobody is obligated to work with me in my research and therefore I am stuck in no man's land. A perfect GPA (over the last 9 years of school!) all of my coursework is finished for my MA and yet I can not even get passed my proposal stage after two and a half years because there is no supervisor to approve it. I am being charged tuition for every day that this continues to go on and nobody seems to be interested in helping me other than to suggest that I 'keep looking'. Has anybody else been in this situation? I can't help but feel that there is a personal grudge involved.

How does authorship work with dissertations? I recall reading in a handbook that it is NOT appropriate to make agreements about authorship on research; I also read that it is standard for a student writing a dissertation to be first author. Despite this, I have been told by someone that they know someone who wrote a dissertation and were NOT first author because "they wouldn't have been able to do it without their advisor". How does this happen? How is it even considered a dissertation if your intellectual work can't be primarily attributed to you?

I am currently working on a MSCJ, and would like to start teaching at the community college level. I will not be working toward my PhD for several years, as my husband pursues his military career. I need to be able to find a job in any location he is to get stationed. Does anyone have any advice for how to do this?
