From bad to worse. There was a recent story about grad student John Boldt, who went for a run, and when he returned his computer and backup hard drive had been stolen from his car. It gets worse -- his entire thesis was on both that computer and hard drive. Obviously not a smart move, but let's hope poor John get's his computer back. As for the rest of you...this is a good reminder to go backup your work about 20 times (after you read this blog). Let's check some other news:
- If you plan on getting a nonprofit-focused master's degree, well have I ever found what you need...
- Over at David Kremelberg's Statistics Blog there is an insightful post about "Getting Through Graduate School."
- Speaking of statistics, the Eternal Universe Blog has some interesting stats on grad students in physics and astronomy programs.
- Nevermore! NPR has a great story about Emily Cory, who has trained her pet raven and is getting a Ph.D in animal behavior science.
