GradShare FAQ's
Who can use GradShare?
The questions, answers, and Expert Advice on GradShare are open to everyone, but you'll have to register to participate. Registration is open to universities in the US and Canada.
Why is registration limited?
Graduate schools and the graduate student experience can be very different between countries. We want to make sure that the information in GradShare is relevant for both question askers and answers. We hope to create international versions of GradShare to support more graduate communities soon!
Why do you need my university email address?
That's how we verify your university and show you relevant university resources.
What if I don't use my university email address?
No problem. Once you register for your GradShare account, you can setup a preferred email address. Just go to your "My Profile" page by following the link (when you're logged in). Next, edit your profile with the "Edit Profile" button and add your preferred email. Don't forget to save your changes.
Why don't I see any university recommended resources? Your school might not have added any yet. Get in touch with your Graduate School and let them know you use GradShare.
Who can contribute to Expert Advice? Anyone with experience as a graduate student! If you would like to submit an expert brief please send your CV or resume, along with your idea for a brief to support@gradshare.com. Our briefs are goal oriented and generally 1-2 pages long with lots of bullets and suggestions that students can put into action.
Who is "Facebook User (name hidden)"? GradShare members can use their Facebook accounts to access the site, but Facebook privacy rules always prevail. If the Facebook user has restrictive premissions, you might not be able to see their name. Most of the time, the restrictions only apply to non-Facebook members. Clicking on the linked name will still show you the user's GradShare profile (i.e. department, questions, answers, etc.).
Why does my registration email say my password is "${user.password}"? If you use Facebook Connect to access GradShare, there is a bug in the registration email. We're hoping to fix it soon. In the mean time, you can still log in by clicking the "F Connect" image at the top of the page providing your Facebook login credentials.//
