Graduate Student Outreach with GradShare
Reaching graduate students through GradShare is easy. GradShare helps students find answers to their questions and we know that many great resources are already provided for students by their schools. Still, many students don't know about all of the great tools at their disposal so graduate school administrators and librarians can use GradShare to show off what your university has to offer. If you haven't signed up yet, get started by requesting your free adminstrator accounts.
Once you have your administrative account, you're ready to get started.
Pick one or two university links to display for each of the following categories:
- Thesis & Dissertation
- e.g. Dissertation publishing guidelines or the campus Writing Center
- Researching
- e.g. The campus writing center, library research assistance or university developed support materials
- Job Search and Career Planning
- e.g. The campus Career Center or job search database
- Teaching
- e.g. Policies or university resources for TA
- Grants/Funding
- e.g. The campus research office or funding databases
- Publishing
- e.g. Campus publication guidelines or Writing Center
- Work/Life Balance
- e.g. The campus Wellness Center, student activities, or graduate organizations
Student outreach is about connecting with students wherever they're most comfortable. Making smart use of your communication tools is the key.
You will receive an email template along with your administrative account that you should send to your campus graduate students.
You should also place links in high profile locations like:
- Graduate School, Library and University web pages
- Graduate student organization webpages
- Social networking groups like Facebook
- Newsletters and blog posts
A vibrant community needs the engagement of your students. We rely on word of mouth to grow this community because each new members adds to our question answering force and builds the knowledgebase.
