For those of you doing qualitative studies, if you are using any software packages specifically designed for qualitative research, what are you using, why did you choose it, and what have you found to be the strengths and weaknesses of the packages? I'm narrowing between HyperResearcher and MAXQDA, but would love insight...
I use MAXQDA and I love it!!! I used the 30-day trial, and I found that it was most intuitive!! It keeps me from going crazy with about ten file windows open. I transcribe my interviews directly into Max, and code and go. I'm sure that I won't use all the features that it has, but the ability to click on one code and then have all the data from all of the interviews, retrieved at the same time--is awesome!! It's all good!! B.
Hi-my work is qualitative and I have done over 30 interviews. Have you hired a transcriptionist or have you transcribed your own interviews??
You are both absolutely right. Time is money and it aid the analysis. I am transcribing the interviews directly into my QDA software and code as I go -- and I'm finding it not as cumbersome a process, when I can see more than just 'typing' progress. I also, memo directly into the software, as I go, as well. Thank you very much B.
