  Hi!, I am hoping to write a review article of a topic of my interest (CTCF and its role in gene regulation). I am planning to apply for PhD soon ( as soon as I get done with my master's thesis ). could any one please guide me to the right resources for the same. thanks a lot!. Also, for what all materials do I need to write to authors of papers that I am referring to, for permission. which journals would accept / encourage something like this. thanks a lot!!.   Hi, I am planning to apply for PhD and am currently pursuing my master's in biology. I am looking to work in the area of chromatin dynamics. I am looking forward to learn about any fellowships / grants that I could apply for either before joining my grad school or during my 1st year. Also I am an international student.

  How to choose a lab ( for phD ) If one is to think on this seriously, what are the points that a student should consider and what are the common things that students take for granted / over look while making this most important decision?.

  I am in the process of writing my dissertation proposal and am fighting some pretty awful writing fears. I have tried many of the suggestions that I have been given (try to write every day [hard to do when it stresses you out so much]; free writing; writing about different topics just to get the juices flowing etc) but they are not getting me closer to having this proposal done. I worry what this means for my dissertation, but for right now I am trying to focus just on getting through this one step. Have any of you overcome this? Do any of you have experience using a writing coach or PhD coach outside of your department/school (perhaps even online)? I don't have much money, but I am wondering if that would be useful...

  Hi, am not a PhD candidate yet, but i had attended this event on campus called as the dessertation house. It was ment for helping students who are at the stage of "all but dessertation" to finish writing. there must be something like that happening in your campus too, I would recommend that.

  hey thanks a lot for your reply. I will look into those points as well.

  I am aware of the fact that it is going to be one of the most important decisions. I am currently reading a book called "leaving the ivory tower" - it seems about 50 % of phD grads drop out... so i guess, that book should give me some idea on how tough / or challenging it must be. may be it would only help me be better prepared.
