  Are you at FSU?

  Are grades still important for PhD students?

  They are important under the following conditions:

  1- Keep the minimum GPA under which you will be put under probation.

  2- Any competition that might make the GPA last resort to compare. 

   

  The second is rare. However, it is more important than grades to keep better class rank that other students.
