I'm all about self-regulation! I did this by setting deadlines and at each deadline, I would send a chapter or two to an editing company for review. I found this really kept me on task and I was always excited to see what they would return so this felt like a good goal. The editor sent back great feedback and well as made me feel like I was really making headway--not just sitting there with a huge messy draft collecting dust. Just an idea as this really worked for me. The name of the company was Elite Editing (eliteediting.com)

I would check out Elite Editing (eliteediting.com). They've edited a few things for me in the past, including my disseration and proposal and have always done a great job. I think they are located in New York but I am not, and it didn't matter at all.
As I was procrastinating (haha) here's an article I found on time management when writing your thesis. Hope it helps!

Try Elite Editing. They did a great job with my dissertation, mainly cleaning up grammar, punctuation, formatting and such. I would highly recommend them. They are online at http://eliteediting.com but you can also call them. The staff is really helpful and will work with you to find the right editor, meet your deadline, etc.
Does anyone know of good software, a website, or some other means of doing group work on projects?
Dropbox. For sure. Just completed a group project using this. It was easy and accessible for all of us. Highly recommend.
HEre's a GREAT article on time management when writing, which is one of the key elements of productivity. Hope it helps.
Here is a GREAT article I found on writing your dissertation proposal. Sometimes just listing out the steps and taking one at a time is the answer. I tend to get overwhelmed by a mountain of work so that helps me...
Make sure you use credible sources in your research paper! This is so important. Don't just google and then quote from any random website, or quote from Wikipedia, which is NOT a credible source. Here's an article on how to find quality resources for research papers. Hope it helps! http://bit.ly/aPgqZU
Getting into a routine is definitely helpful. I take a walk every day to a coffee shop around the corner and by the time I sit down to work, I feel in the groove. Somehow, this little exercise really helps me get myself in order. Here's an article I found on managing your time when writing major papers like thesis papers.
