I understand that an advisor plays a key role in guiding the advisee; however, recently I asked a couple of clarifications about the courses I was urged to take, and the advisor resigned from his position to advising me for my PhD. The advisor admitted that there were mistakes from his part. Is it not legitimate to ask questions or clarifications? Now no other advisor is willing to work with me, which sounds that they are supporting their colleagues, and not the student, who needs truthful explanation. I cannot imagine that kind of attitude reign in US research universities. Do I have to bite the bullet? The department views me as the culprit, which is morally not sound. I am even thinking of taking legal action against the department, but I learn that my voice wont be heard in this democracy. Any suggestion.
The reason i posted this message here because i did my homework from day-1, and adhered to the requirements and listened to the advice of that advisor for the past 2 yrs. Criteria cannot change all of a sudden. I should have been informed right from the beginning about the intention of the department/personnel.
What program do you recommend for organizing papers/ references? Which is easiest to organize and insert into papers?? EndNote? Reference Manager, ProCite, RefWorks?
Do zotero and bibme.org have the same features? Since they are available for free, I guess they will lack features that refworks do. A basic feature for all of the software would be useful in tabular for the sake of comparison.
Say, I want to cite a line from an article 1 - author 1; and that specific line is already a reference from another journal article 2 - author 2.
What is the best way to cite the chosen line in my bibliography? I guess the best practice is to make reference to the original article 2. Please advise whether author 1 does not receive any credit, since I came across the particular idea from author's 1 article 1.

Thank you for the kind clarification.

Hi,
Just curious to know if we can use RefWorks to organize and store all the articles (pdf), as well as bibliography? I have downloaded around 50-60 papers for reference but my problem is that it is difficult for me to locate and remember which article or part of the article I should refer to for my write up and references purposes. Any idea.
Thank you
